The World Lottery Association (WLA) is a member-based organisation to advance the interests of State-authorized lotteries. The Association comprises 156 State-authorized lotteries from 80 countries on 6 continents that are Full Members, and numerous Associate Members who are suppliers of services and products to the industry.

Every second year WLA organizes a major international convention, known as the World Lottery Summit, which features an extensive business program and a vast trade show of supplier products and services. The event is generally regarded as the jewel in the crown of the lottery industry and attracts around 800 to 1,500 attendees biennially.

WLS 2022 marked the first time in a long while that attendees were able to come together in person since the pandemic of COVID-19 ended and the industry eased into a new normal. This article offers a look back at WLS 2022 and also a quick glimpse at what the future holds for the association and its community in 2023 and beyond.

In order to support and promote the activities of its members, WLA develops and maintains a wide range of information services. These include the Global Lottery Data Compendium and the WLA Quarterly Lottery Sales Indicator, which are both produced with input from members. WLA also publishes a number of Country Fact Sheets that cover the legal, commercial and societal situation regarding bet-on lotteries in various jurisdictions worldwide. These facts sheets are available to both WLA members and to the broader lottery and sports betting industry.
