The World Lottery Association


The world lottery association is a member-based organization to advance the interests of state-authorized lotteries. It provides knowledge and expertise to support its members in raising funds for good causes. The organization is committed to the highest standards of corporate responsibility and respects authorized legal systems that determine how, where, and in what form gaming products can be offered. The world lottery association serves 150 lotteries and sports betting operators and 70 suppliers of goods and services to the industry worldwide. Together they raise over USD 80 billion for good causes annually.

The WLA Magazine is the official publication of the world lottery association and carries comprehensive articles on themes that impact the global lottery and sports betting sectors written by the world lottery association, its members and contributors, the regional associations and ULIS, and associate members. The magazine is distributed to lottery officials, government representatives, the media and others around the globe.

Luca Esposito, Executive Director of the world lottery association is a champion for responsible gaming and an advocate for achieving sports integrity. He joins us to discuss the challenges competition manipulation poses for the lottery and sports betting sector, and how national lotteries can use their power and influence to help address these issues. Luca also shares his thoughts on the importance of the Council of Europe’s Macolin Convention and why it is important for the industry to stand together in its commitment to protecting sports integrity.
