The World Lottery Association

The World Lottery Association (WLA) has a mission to advance lottery interests and support its members within their own national regulatory framework. We also work to promote public understanding of the contribution lottery funds make in society and their important role as an instrument of public policy. This is achieved through a range of activities including:

WLA publishes two widely respected information services, the prestigious WLA Quarterly Lottery Sales Indicator and the Global Lottery Data Compendium. The research for these publications is gathered directly from our member lotteries and rigorously checked to ensure the accuracy of the data.

We regularly provide comprehensive articles on themes that matter to the broader lottery and sports betting sector, as well as the GLMS, our regional associations and the broader industry. In addition, every second year we organize a major international convention – the World Lottery Summit, or WLS – which features a large business program and a huge trade show showcasing the latest supplier products and services.

This year’s WLS 2022 in Vancouver was a remarkable event as the world shifted into a new normal following the COVID-19 pandemic. This article takes a look back at the highlights of this and other recent WLA events.

The World Lottery Association is committed to fighting illegal betting operations worldwide. Its Illegal Betting Committee (ILBC) advises its member lotteries on how to fight unauthorised gaming activities through their respective national legislative and regulatory frameworks. In doing so, the ILBC is working to protect sport integrity and maintain the probity of state-authorised lottery operators in cooperation with other industry stakeholders.
