The World Lottery Association

The world lottery association is a member-based organization to advance the interests of state-authorized lotteries and the people they serve. It promotes integrity and responsible gaming, advocates for the advancement of lottery systems worldwide and provides an open forum for collaboration among its members.

During WLS 2022, attendees were reminded of the important role lotteries play in supporting good causes across the globe through a display of lottery-supported charities on the “Play for Society” wall. Also, keynote speaker Marga Hoek, a global thought leader on sustainable business practices, gave effective examples of how to make business a force for good.

In addition to the biennial WLS convention, which is regarded as one of the world’s largest lottery events, the association organizes seminars and other industry events year-round for its membership. These aim to target the tactical managerial level of the members, while providing valuable insights and a platform for the exchange of experiences and ideas from diverse cultures and the many challenges facing the lottery sector globally.

WLA Seminars

In 2022, the WLA introduced a new series of webinars for its membership on topics such as responsible gaming, business intelligence, and the importance of innovation. In addition, the WLA Academy offers a full program of courses and workshops for entry-level and mid-level personnel. These programs are offered in cooperation with the regional lottery and sports betting associations. The seminars and related events can be viewed on the WLA Event Calendar.
